Grass varieties are selected and grown specifically for horses.
Nutrition is tailored to produce hay and haylage that has moderate levels of protein and energy along with a balanced, comprehensive mineral content and high fibre. This is achieved through careful application and timing of crop nutrition along with cutting at the optimum time, and we always aim for maximum quality over the highest yields.
Our haylage is suitable for feeding ad. lib., with nutritional values that allow flexibility with the hard feed portion of the diet. Equi-Grass is recommended by many top nutritionists and veterinary surgeons.
Our haylage is low in fermentation acids with a near neutral pH, and buffers against gut acidosis caused by high starch diets. Low levels of lactic and acetic acid show a gentle fermentation has occurred. Our forage is also low in nitrogen content.

Minerals
We regularly test our soils, grass and the end product for mineral content, to ensure our forage has a good, balanced supply of minerals which are essential for top performance. Equi-Grass has good or excellent levels of:
- Calcium
- Phosphorous
- Potassium
- Magnesium
- Sodium
- Copper
- Sulphur
- Iron
- Zinc
- Manganese
Numerous issues can be caused by deficiencies or imbalances in these minerals.
